Liposuction or liposculpture is a surgical procedure that
permanently removes fatty tissue from specific areas of the
body. It is particularly useful for areas resistant to diet
and exercise, such as the abdomen, knees, thighs, ankles,
face and neck.
Using a small instrument called a cannula, fat cells are
suctioned out of the area through a small incision. We suggest
the performance of liposuction using tumescent anesthesia.
This is a technique in which dilute local anesthesia is injected
into the area to be treated. Such an approach has reduced
the incidence of complications and hastened recovery after
allowing patients to return to non-strenuous activities within
48 hours . With proper post-operative care, the patient may
recover mobility quickly, which in turn helps to reduce swelling
and other post-operative effects.
Results are often seen quickly after surgery and continue
to improve over several months. Wearing a specialized garment
to keep the swelling compressed, a patient usually returns
to normal activities in 3-4 days. |
