This surgical technique, also called “the Featherlift” or “Aptos Lift,” contours and suspends sagging facial tissue with plastic, non-absorbable suture thread.
Well-suited to lift lax skin in the cheeks, brows, jowls and neck, these threads have very small bi-directional barbs along their lengths which attach to the skin and allow the skin to be pulled in a direction to maximize lift. The center of the thread is surgically situated below the area to be lifted, then gently tightened to support the soft tissue upwards until the desired correction is achieved. For 3-4 months after insertion of the thread, the body forms desirable scar tissue around it and this tissue becomes augmenting lift support for the thread.
The procedure works best for the individual with mid early skin laxity, who wishes to avoid or delay more invasive procedures.
A patient must take care to avoid any force to the threaded areas to prevent thread slippage.
